Charbroiled Fresh Scallops – Da On Korean Fine Dining

My favourite seafood – a luxury treat from Datin Su Wai Fun Day. She knows her food, as she is not only a chef trained by Le Cordon Bleu Academy but is also organiser of the annual Malaysia International Gastronomy Festival or MIGF.

Gong Yoo’s Hotel Room in Taiwan Costs 20 Million Won?

Mandarin Oriental Taipei Taiwan.

“Gong Yoo’s Hotel Room in Taiwan Costs 20 Million Won?” as reported by Castko via Mycen Hotel’s Hotels In The News

The South Korean mega-heart-throb and megastar of zombie blockbuster Train To Busan reportedly paid 20 million South Korean won a night for a hotel room in Taipei? That is something like RM 74000 or USD 17600 approximate a night. He is big in Taiwan, with thousands of female fans screaming outside the hotel. But still?

There is possibly something wrong with the math or it is a non standard room since his entourage consists of 15 bodyguards, his parents, people to take care of his parents, make up artists and hair stylists.

Since he is so sweet and filial to bring his aging parents along and he supports a campaign to ban animal testing in the beauty industry, I will gladly help him get a normal room for just RM 1745 at the same hotel a night via MyCen Hotels. Price was last I checked.

K Pop – Watermelon Ice Cream On A Stick

A watermelon on a stick ice cream was surprisingly satisfying. Was with Korean food and Korean pop culture enthusiast Zyneste who introduced me to some funky Korean ramen from the Asian supermarket too. I bought a can of Haitai Bon Bon Grape juice too. Quite nice all.

Hot Day At Little Korea On This Day Two Years Ago

I like the many Korean grocers at Little Korea, Ampang. Everything on a product’s packaging is in Korean. The few things I can make out visually is the graphic on the wrapper of this watermelon popsicle.

Taste great, especially on a hot day, and the melon seeds are actually chocolate chips. I like the limey green part more, though.

Korean Seafood And Spring Onion Pancake

Korean Seafood And Spring Onion Pancake.

One of the nicest things to eat at a Korean restaurant is a Spring Onion Pancake. At B Bap, it is fried with eggs, seafood and spring onions. It is both crunchy, fluffy, crispy thin and is cut up into slices like a droopy thin crust pizza. My favourite is from Taiwan House in Ampang Point mall. Spring onion pancake is also a traditional Chinese home cooked dish using eggs, scallions, Chinese chives or ku chai and onions.

Doenjang Jjigae

Brave Johnny Ong’s choice for lunch was Doenjang Jjigae or Korean Fermented Soybean Paste Stew with tofu. Plenty of accompanying knick knacks and soup to fill up the small table at Be Bap. Good thing, I brought a wide angle lens. The deceptively tiny GM-1 is a system camera with interchangeable lens mount. The cozy Korean sidewalk restaurant in Nu Sentral faces the busy KL Sentral Station or transit hub and was crowded with people during lunch time.
