Halo There

The sun rising behind the Palace Of Justice, the Federal and Appeal Court Complex in Putrajaya.

This is the first time I am seeing the three signature domes as silhouettes with a halo glow. The architecture incorporates Islamic, Moorish, Palladian and similar Neoclassicism elements.

The amber colour reminds me of the tobacco colour introduced by the French Cokin Filter System.

Chicken At Kafe Beriani Gam Putrajaya

This time, the chicken version with the GM-1 camera. There are reasons not to eat it everyday. Besides being very rich food, it is also very expensive for a roadside stall (shack).

The kambing kuzi was RM24 and chicken RM 15, excluding drinks. Kafe Beriani Gam Putrajaya is located after De Centrum Mall and before IOI City Mall, opposite Serdang Hospital. Map coming up.

Kambing Kuzi At Kafe Beriani Gam Putrajaya

The place is like a secret hideout and a well kept secret among the Malays.

Here is a pic of my chunky and juicy Kambing Kuzi or Middle Eastern style lamb. The thick sticky gravy is the “gum” of Johor style beriani.

Thank you Petrina Tan for the treat.

Photographed with Asus ZenFone 3.

IOI City Mall, Putrajaya – Part 1

Was I wrong! I went in and it was bustling with visitors inside. It was not even a weekend or public holiday.

Many people complain that new malls are all identical. They have to be. The shops are all template designed and stocked.

I think IOI City Mall’s appeal is that they managed to attract many tenants in its early days. Almost every retailer and food outlet is represented here. Not only are they here, they are all opened.

Many new malls usually open with empty or shuttered lots. The only time I went to a new mall I liked was Setia City Mall. It opened with a full array of functioning shops and restaurants too. I had fun with a camera here at IOI City Mall and here’s a photo essay or sort of.

The ‘city’ moniker is derived from the developer’s own township named IOI City. It is on the edge of Putrajaya. It is the venue of the Putrajaya Marriot and the new mall has the Le Méridien Putrajaya attached.

Pluto Fly-By

These are actually vermicelli-rice flour string hoppers awaiting steaming on top of a pau steamer cover. The rattan dome is wrapped with a white cloth.

I found out that the South Indian Putu Mayam is from Venus and Putu Mayung is from Pluto. The pakcik hawker at the Ramadan bazaar noticed me giving the name on the banner a double take.

The intuitive man explained that in the north, it is known as Putu Mayung. It tastes just as wonderful with grated coconut and ‘gula melaka’ or coconut palm sugar.

I inverted the image and called it Plutu. The asteroid belt is out-of-focused points of light and people outside the tent.
