Will The Real Me, Please Stand Up

I always thought it it was viral paranoia by people who will share any internet warning.

Today, I received a fake add friend request from my friend Melinda Song who is already a friend. Being suspicious, I wanted to message her husband Kenny Song to ask if she was hacked.

Before I can seek confirmation, she posted on her account saying her Fb was cloned identically. Her friends who accepted commented they received a message soon after asking for their phone number. Melinda posted some new pics which I dare not like not knowing if they are real.

It is all Facebook’s fault for they can easily detect clones and prevent the opening of such accounts. Like how Gmail will warn you that a mail was spoofed and may not be from the address claimed.

Should you be aware you are cloned, always report to Facebook so the fake accounts are shut and Facebook becomes aware of how widespread the issue is. By not reporting, you may be hurting innocent friends exposed to crooks.

There is no point warning people not to accept or declaring bravely you will never open a second account. Shit happens. Give people a means to contact you to verify outside Facebook.

Should you ever receive a second request from me, you can e-mail me at tvsmith@gmail.com to confirm, or reach me by Instagram @tvsmithmy or via Twitter @tvsmthmy
Or if you remember any mutual friends, contact them and they might know.

Or search for my website/blog at http://www.tvsmith.my/ or Google “tv smith malaysia”

The Migrants.

The common house crows are so hated everywhere because they are intelligent, noisy and invade our environment. They expose our lack of cleanliness and the lack of proper street cleaning and rubbish disposal by local authorities. For exposing their shortcomings and failure to do their jobs, some heartless town halls resort to shooting them.

The intelligent and sociable animals were like “illegal” immigrants. They are native to India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. They can now be found all over South East Asia. It was speculated that a colony was brought in by British planters in Carey Island to control agricultural pests. They soon escaped and spread all over Klang Valley. Like an experiment gone wrong, as in the fictional Jurassic Park.

Scientists believe many adventurous crows also hitched a ride on cargo ships and got off at ports such as Port Klang and one of the world’s busiest ports, Singapore, where the stowaways transferred ships or made landfall.

Picture by my dear friend PuiSee Chu (https://www.facebook.com/puisee4) who was also in Kerala, India recently. According to her, the crows were waiting patiently and graciously for unfinished food at an al fresco diner in Cherai Beach Residency Kochi. Super Kinta Lives

Super Kinta Lives.

Dear Ipohans, Emily Lowe, Vasanthi Mailany, Sylvia Looi, Alexandra Wong. Adriene Leong, Penny Teh and many I forgotten at the moment. Feel free to join the conversation in my Facebook if you are from Ipoh.

The new Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS) in Ipoh is selling tickets above RM 100 a pop per head including children, even with opening promotions. Seems to me, a fairly big chunk for a family of 5. What you think? But then what do I know about theme parks and the costs of nurturing kids?

Amazing, a few years ago even Ipohans themselves said it was a sunset city with no future. The dead star of Kinta Valley resurrected itself with many new projects. Who would have thought? Now there is talk of the airport moving away to make way for skyscrapers in the city.

Go here if you need a hotel cheaper than an entrance ticket to a theme park.

An Idea Came With The Storm

An idea came during the crazy storm just now. Since my blog has many travel and lifestyle content, why didn’t I place a hotel search box on it as well?

Storm was so heavy I had to shut down the PC and I am not so well versed with the Drupal CMS. Needed to research on Google. Could not do it when lightning strikes were getting very rowdy.

Anyway, it is all calm now and the search box is up on the top of the right hand sidebar on every page on the blog. Just search when you read about a place or city you like. The search results open in a new tab, or page or window depending on how your browser is configured.

Of course; one cannot place the search box on any website. Fortunately, my blog is an approved affiliate partner site with its own unique CID or tracking ID.

You can now search and book a hotel from here http://www.tvsmith.my/ or here http://www.mycen.my/
