Meet My Favourite Terrorist

At the Pasir Gudang International Kite Festival, she frightened me when she showed up dressed like a terrorist. LOL. Although many men will argue their demure wives or girlfriends are usually terrorists in real life. Heh.

The National Geographic branded balaclava is a great accessory for photographers to carry. It is like a scarf you can tie in several ways. You can buy it at an outdoor adventure, fishing, camping shop or at a National Geographic shop. The Nat Geo shop in Singapore is already closed, I think. My other friend Daniel Tang has one such scarf too for his angling activities.

It may be breezy and windy at the kite flying venue but the sun is very harsh. As a macro and nature photography enthusiast, Sharon knows too well the dangers of prolonged exposure to UV rays when outdoors.

Ironically, the real danger there was actually spectators and photographers wandering too close and tripping or getting entangled with the many kite strings that may not be visible.

This year’s Pasir Gudang World Kite Festival is currently happening and will be until 28 February 2017.

A Flower For You, Loves

I salute the guy who bought his girlfriend a cauliflower for Valentine’s. Maybe not.

Like the roses from Cameron Highlands, massive environmental harm was caused by pesticide use and entire hills were cleared for farming and greenhouse flower growing. They could also be from slave labour like farms of some exporting countries. All artificially coloured or dyed to enhance your Valentine selfies.

So don’t be proud about giving or receiving roses.

Picture of Rohingya cauliflower restorer at work. He and his sister re-conditions or refurbish spoiled of blackened cauliflowers discarded at the wholesale market. Hope their business flourish with Valentine’s.

Gum Chewing Woman Of 168

How about the non-smiling curry laksa chef who’s chewing gum non stop? As I was to find out later, Restaurant 168 is also famous for its curry laksa and curry noodles in addition to its prawn wonton noodles (wantan mee).

Restaurant 168

My long time friend Anna Har took me out for lunch and to do some street photography today. It is a meaningful and deeply appreciated gesture. Anna didn’t want credit, at first.

I told her it may inspire other friends to volunteer. As I told Anna, it not only provided the needed physical exercise but the outing is also mentally therapeutic to be able to talk to a friend.

For lunch, I told her ‘let’s find a place with real character and attitude’. Not some hipster joints. We chanced upon this famous restaurant named 168 at the back of the former Majestic Cinema in Pudu. It has plenty of character plus the food is good.

Looks like a shop in old Hong Kong. The Jalan Brunei area is a vintage and forgotten area of Kuala Lumpur.

Not The End Of Thaipusam

My Instagram and Twitter follower Vasanthi told me she is going to greet the chariot in its return trip in Ipoh tonight.

She told me tying the saree and make up will take an hour and half. I told her to send me an iphone selfie when she is done. She did and she looks gorgeous, doesn’t she? Still needed to put on bangles on her hands and flowers in her hair, according to her. This is part of my ongoing Thaipusam story telling.
