Borobudur

Borobudur.

I was about to write a feature on Borobudur in Indonesia. The 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist temple ruins with stupas and statues in Magelang, Central Java, is the world’s largest Buddhist temple, and also considered one of the greatest Buddhist monuments in the world. With the historical landmark so near, I can see from my social media timeline, many Malaysians visiting the UNESCO World Heritage site, probably as a bucket list destination.

By a happy coincidence, I gained a recent Instagram follower named @sarasvati_borobudur_hotel. I contacted them and found out the account is run by the management of the hotel. A nice person by the name of Emir responded and a helpful Bambang sent me pics to feature. Touted as a boutique hotel with colonial design, Saraswati Borobudur Hotel offers free wi-fi, an outdoor pool and a restaurant. It also provides bicycle rental and Javanese arts classes. More importantly, it is a short walk or bicycle ride from Candi Borobudur. (see map at MyCen Hotels). I asked Emir if Saraswati is spelled with a V or W. He said they were registered as Saraswati but are in the process of changing to Sarasvati.

Hotels In KLIA

All of us will need an airport hotel for various reasons some day. It may be to catch an important flight on time, to stay overnight because of flight arrival or departure delays or to wait for lost or delayed baggage. Usually it may be because of transit or to catch a connecting flight.

Note that many of the KLIA budget hotels are in a satellite town away from the airport. Not all are at the doorsteps or inside the airport complex although many labelled themselves misleadingly or tagged KLIA to its name. Always find out about available transport options before you book.

Staying at an airport hotel can take away the usual pre-flight stress and anxiety about unexpected traffic jams and other delays.

The Red Brick Office

Someone, booked through me, the APA Hotel Sapporo-Susukino-Ekimae in Sapporo City in Hokkaido Prefecture in Northern Japan. I have no idea who the person is but I always enjoy looking at an unfamiliar hotel and to study nearby landmarks to learn something new. It is about 8 min by subway or 1.1 km from the former Hokkaido Government Office. Constructed in 1888, the building deployed American neo-baroque architecture and it is known as “the red brick office” pic from Agoda. Thank you to the anonymous person who made the booking. On Route 66: The Main Street of America

Monterey Non Smokers Motel is one of several classic roadside motels and diners on the Albuquerque section of historic Route 66 in the United States. This has the retro neon sign typical of its genre and era. Nostalgic but not exactly weird or unusual, I am including it to remind my American followers that they can book any domestic homegrown hotel through my site. I hope some of you will do so. Hotel Senigallia is a hotel with a boat or sail ship design in Skopje City, Macedonia (FYROM). Hotel Senigallia is a 3-minute walk away from the Stone Bridge and from Macedonia Square. Located by the river Vardar, it is actually in the city centre. The vintage boat hotel was suggested by my freind and fellow Instagrammer @jaschintaz who is planning to go there in June.
