Osaka, Japan

Osaka, Japan.

Osaka is the capital city of Osaka Prefecture and the largest component of the Keihanshin Metropolitan Area, the second largest metropolitan area in Japan and among the largest in the world with over 19 million inhabitants.

Situated at the mouth of the Yodo River on Osaka Bay, Osaka is the second largest city in Japan by daytime population after Tokyo’s 23 wards and the third largest city by nighttime population after Tokyo’s 23 wards and Yokohama, serving as a major economic hub for the country. ~ Wikipedia.

Kyoto resident Mauloa Nao (@mauloa_nao on IG) or Naoko Shintani sent me some pics. She is shown here alongside her beautiful sunset pic of the Port Of Osaka. She lives in both cities which are connected by bullet trains and are 12 to 15 minutes apart.

You can’t say you can’t find a hotel in Osaka. A search for hotels in Osaka yielded over 1000 hotels from each booking partner of ours:

Exciting Tokyo

[Tokyo is such an exciting city for anyone from anywhere in the world. It is a mixture of ultra modern and traditional, such as historic temples.

For this city, I have pictures supplied by my friend Ms Kwai Heong on FB. (www.facebook.com/kwai.heong.9) She is also at @kwaiheong on IG. She visited Japan recently.

She captured an amazing set of pictures considering she is deaf or is hearing impaired, I met her in person at a temple a few years ago where she was getting selfies all by herself and we communicated by signing.

Tokyo hotels aren’t always as costly as many assume. Look for Tokyo hotel deals here:

Kyoto

Kyoto.

I featured a pic of my beautiful friend Naoko Shintani from Kyoto, Japan when she was at the Tottori Sand Dunes not too long ago. (http://www.tvsmith.my/travel/mauloa-nao-tottori-sand-dunes). She is a long time friend of mine from Instagram (@mauloa_nao) and @wajxaqibmanik on Twitter.

Am happy to kick off MyCen Hotel’s feature of its first Japanese city with a picture of Kinkaku-ji (or Golden Pavilion), a famous golden stupa; or monument honouring Buddha’s relics.

Captured by Nao in her home city of Kyoto, the ancient capital of Japan, is a city on the island of Honshu. It is famous for its numerous classical Buddhist temples, as well as gardens, imperial palaces, castles, gardens, Shinto shrines and traditional wooden houses.

No coincidence that Kyoto has one of the world’s largest collection of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in one place. A total of 17. If time is limited, you need to do your own research and decide which to visit in advance.

Hotels are a plenty and in various price range:

The Red Brick Office

Someone, booked through me, the APA Hotel Sapporo-Susukino-Ekimae in Sapporo City in Hokkaido Prefecture in Northern Japan. I have no idea who the person is but I always enjoy looking at an unfamiliar hotel and to study nearby landmarks to learn something new. It is about 8 min by subway or 1.1 km from the former Hokkaido Government Office. Constructed in 1888, the building deployed American neo-baroque architecture and it is known as “the red brick office” pic from Agoda. Thank you to the anonymous person who made the booking. You can let me know discreetly by PM if you so wish but it is non-obligatory. If anyone of you travel to Japan or anywhere in the world, please book a hotel via MyCen Hotels (www.mycen.my). Since Instagram is notoriously difficult to embed clickable links, I have placed the link on my Instagram profile. It should now be easier for you to launch my hotel booking page from there. Thank you for your support, Sapporo traveler and other intrepid travelers 🙂 #sapporo #hokkaido #japan #hotels

Mauloa Nao At The Tottori Sand Dunes

Beautiful Naoko Shintani is from Kyoto, Japan. She is like a pen pal of mine from Instagram (@mauloa_nao) and Twitter. I am guessing no younger person will know what a “pen pal” is nowadays. We communicate in Bahasa Melayu and Bahasa Indonesia text.

She spent a big part of her childhood growing up in Bali where she learned the language on her own. We bond because of our mutual love for animals and nature. She is now back in Kyoto and Osaka – about 15 minutes apart by bullet train.

I wanted to use some of her pics to promote hotels in Kyoto but sadly she lost all the original or cannot remember where they were stored before cropping and resizing. Good thing she uploaded some to Instagram or they would have been permanently lost.

Update: See latest post on Kyoto hotels: http://www.tvsmith.my/travel/kyoto

This a picture of Nao at the Tottori Sand Dunes located near the city of Tottori in Tottori Prefecture, Japan. They are the only large dune system in Japan. I think because of her phone camera, the sand became white like snow. Picture is untouched except watermarking as resolution was too low.

Search Tottori and you will find 78 hotels in the area. A search of Kyoto harvested over 1869 hotels. Osaka listed over 3600 hotels when searched. Start your search here: http://www.mycen.my/hotel/
