Hotels In KLIA

All of us will need an airport hotel for various reasons some day. It may be to catch an important flight on time, to stay overnight because of flight arrival or departure delays or to wait for lost or delayed baggage. Usually it may be because of transit or to catch a connecting flight.

Note that many of the KLIA budget hotels are in a satellite town away from the airport. Not all are at the doorsteps or inside the airport complex although many labelled themselves misleadingly or tagged KLIA to its name. Always find out about available transport options before you book.

Staying at an airport hotel can take away the usual pre-flight stress and anxiety about unexpected traffic jams and other delays.

A Rose By Any Other Name

My awesome rose tea from that mee tarik place. I am not much of a tea drinker but it looks like some dried rose buds or rose hips were used. The spoon was to stir the little sugar added and not to eat the buds, I think. It should be labelled as rose bud drink and not rose tea. Smells as sweet.

That Mee Tarik Place

I saw this restaurant when looking for a budget Hotel in the Gombak and Setapak area. It is a few doors down from Ong Tak Kim Supermarket and is called the Mee Tarik Orient Palace.

It is run by a few mamak staff who dont speak much. They were upset when I wanted ice for my rose tea. I think they were afraid the flavour may not emanate from the the dried rose flower buds without hot water. Their waiter couldn’t express that. There goes my plans to ask him about the mee tarik.

From what I know, the signature Lamian or pulled and twisted noodles originated from China. It is also popular in Central Asian countries such as Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and is the national dish of the Uyghur people.

Hence, it was no coincidence and a pleasant surprise to find this restaurant also serving a variety of Chinese Muslim dishes. Unfortunately, all the pulled noodles available were of the soupy types that I didn’t like.

I ordered beef fried with onions and noodles. There is something special about eating fried crunchy onions with sauteed beef, Wonderful stuff. I think the noodles used were spaghetti. Loved it. Yumz.

The Red Brick Office

Someone, booked through me, the APA Hotel Sapporo-Susukino-Ekimae in Sapporo City in Hokkaido Prefecture in Northern Japan. I have no idea who the person is but I always enjoy looking at an unfamiliar hotel and to study nearby landmarks to learn something new. It is about 8 min by subway or 1.1 km from the former Hokkaido Government Office. Constructed in 1888, the building deployed American neo-baroque architecture and it is known as “the red brick office” pic from Agoda. Thank you to the anonymous person who made the booking. You can let me know discreetly by PM if you so wish but it is non-obligatory. If anyone of you travel to Japan or anywhere in the world, please book a hotel via MyCen Hotels (www.mycen.my). Since Instagram is notoriously difficult to embed clickable links, I have placed the link on my Instagram profile. It should now be easier for you to launch my hotel booking page from there. Thank you for your support, Sapporo traveler and other intrepid travelers 🙂 #sapporo #hokkaido #japan #hotels

Hotel Eden Rome

The grand and luxury hotel, Hotel Eden Rome, which was built in the late 1800s, was bought by the Dorchester Collection in 2013. It’s been closed since and was undergoing extensive renovation and restoration. The Italian jewel is now opened again (as of 1st April 2017). It is located between between the Via Veneto and Spanish Steps and is surrounded by the gardens of the Ludovisi, Borghese, and Malta villas as described by Condé Nast Traveller. They also said the famous gourmet restaurant La Terrazza dell’Eden was outrageously expensive. It is a classic five star hotel in Rome, Europe.
