Memories Of Sweet Sekinchan

On the top of the montage is a picture I think I took in the summer of 2012. Green green grass, sunshine, blue sky and fluffy clouds. On the bottom is the shocking view from yesterday after monsoonal rain. The beleaguered tree has what looked like pomelo fruits growing out of it.

Mee Udang Banjir

We stopped randomly at Mee Udang Banjir near Kuala Selangor. It is a kind of Malay shrimp gumbo with shells and feet of the prawns included with yellow noodles.

The prawns aren’t exactly galah as advertised, which is giant freshwater prawns but the dish is photogenic and tasty nevertheless . RM 10.50 for the dish with regular size prawns.

Flooded Sekinchan

Prolonged rainfall last night turned the flooded rice fields into a landscape resembling that of a sea. I asked a farmer if the planted paddy crop will be affected. He thinks not as lowland paddy can survive waterlogged conditions.

The distant building is a ,”bird hotel”. Farmers and land owners supplement their income by harvesting the nests of swifts.

Korean Seafood And Spring Onion Pancake

Korean Seafood And Spring Onion Pancake.

One of the nicest things to eat at a Korean restaurant is a Spring Onion Pancake. At B Bap, it is fried with eggs, seafood and spring onions. It is both crunchy, fluffy, crispy thin and is cut up into slices like a droopy thin crust pizza. My favourite is from Taiwan House in Ampang Point mall. Spring onion pancake is also a traditional Chinese home cooked dish using eggs, scallions, Chinese chives or ku chai and onions.
