Tepung Pelita
I like this gooey and fragrant dessert served chilled. Contained in a banana leaf boat, the kuih is made from coconut milk and rice flour. The top is creamy and a bit salty while the bottom is sweet pandan-flavoured green.
There is condensation on the surface because I just took it out of the refrigerator.

On The First Day Of Ramadan
Was good spending the first day of the fasting month observing life in Slim River. The day culminated at the Ramadan food bazaar in the middle of town.
The traders were friendly, generous and their food tasted good. A mother-daughter team seen here selling stir-fried kuey teow (flat rice noodles).
I like how the daughter sneaked in a smile behind the serious mother 🙂

Ribena Longan
That great Malaysian invention or concoction of Ribena blackcurrant cordial and canned longans. Some places add soda or use canned lychees instead. Next to it, is another Malaysian favourite; Milo Ice.
