Beaches For Your Sunset Pics – Part 4

I’ve been looking at my sunset pics to feature more for the Beaches For Your Sunset Pics series. See sidebar for related links.I think Bagan Lalang can be the 4th beach to include. I know. Singapore has Clarke Quay and Boat Quay and what do we have? Weed Quay! Haha. It may be far but it has yielded consistently good sunsets for me, so far.

I first went there before AVANI Goldcoast Sepang was even built, Since Bagan means a fisherman’s quay or fisherman’s wharf or jetty and lalang means weed or blady grass, I placed the camera on the ground on top of the grass creeping on the sand for this very low view of the sunset.

Besides the luxury AVANI Sepang Gold Coast Resort, there are a couple cheaper alternatives very nearby. When you finish with the sunsets, it will usually be already 8 pm and the road is dark and narrow, So stay a night and relax.

Beaches For Your Sunset Pics – Part 2.

Next up on the sunset beaches series is the sneakily named Pantai Redang in Sekinchan. On a part of Redang Beach less trodden, is an isolated corner I called the Graveyard Of Fishing Vessels. Hauntingly beautiful and off the beaten track.

The skeletal remains of retired fishing boats are laid bare during low tide. I love this swampy coast in northern Selangor. When the light and clouds mashed up crazily, the land and seascape exudes a post-apocalyptic feel. Eerie and awesome.

The Sun Sets Early At Victoria Harbour

The sun sets very early in Hong Kong during winter season. It was November when I was there. If I am not mistaken, it was only 6 pm local time. We were at Victoria Harbour and a Malaysian Star Cruise ocean liner or cruise ship was docked there. What a lovely coincidence.

The harbour and glittering skyline are a magnet for photographers. Almost missed the sunset as Kuala Lumpur’s golden hour is comparatively late at 7:30 pm usually. It was like going to Sabah for the first time to find the sun setting earlier. By 7:50 pm, Hong Kong sky would have been pitch black. What do you say Hong Kong friend Sam Chan and other HK residents?

Twilight Ambush

Found one of my images of Bagan Lallang beach frrom 2013. Maybe it was my overactive imagination and I spooked myself. Standing there at twilight, it looked like the lalang (weed grass) were creeping up silently and surrounding the unsuspecting family, before strangling them on the white sands.

Waiting To Break Fast Outside KL Sogo

Nice to see the department store providing mats for the public.

Can you see the number of people in the crowd checking their phones? 🙂

Photography Notes: This is a very tough nightfall scene for any camera to handle.

The Sony Zeiss FE 55mm – A7R combo handled it with ease and beautifully.
